SETA has played a crucial role in providing employment and its related training for decades. It was played a significant role of a bridge bringing together those who desire to bag a lucrative job offer and for those business owners who prefer to have employees with requisite quality in them.

In these days of trying times when there is a wide scale recessionary trend in the market, finding a perfect job becomes lot difficult for those who do not have adequate qualifications. It is under these circumstances that opting for a NEBOSH course can fetch you your dream job with much ease and comfort. Basically, NEBOSH is the world famous examination board of UK, which accredits certain types or organizations, agencies, institutions, which can conduct various examinations. These examinations are normally conducted keeping in mind the guidelines and examination rules framed by this regulatory body. It would not be out of context to highlight the fact that this regulatory body does not conduct any examination of its own. It mainly has obligation of awarding certificates and diplomas to numerous successful candidates.

It essentially plays the role of a nodal agency which undertakes the work of prescribing appropriate syllabuses and procedures to be adhered to at the time of assessing any specified vocational qualification. This nodal agency came into existence in the year 1979 and over the years, it has successfully grown in its stature. The core areas where it specializes in awarding various categories of certificates and diplomas include environmental, safety and health issues. Some of its best known certification programs include National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, International General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health, National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety, International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety, National Certificate in the Management of Health and Well-being at Work, National Certificate in Environmental Management, National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management, International Certificate in Construction Health and Safety, to name a few.

Among the NEBOSH courses that give diplomas to its successful aspirants, it includes, International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Diploma in Environmental Management, to name a few. It has been found that many hardcore superintendents, HR professionals, managers and team leaders of various industries choose to take one such diploma. The reason attributed to this category of the workforce preferring it could be linked to one of the essential pre-requisites that are needed in an incumbent. This has to do with nature of temperament one has while dealing with a large number of employees working directly under him/her. Since, this category of workforce already have sufficient know how about handling people, they don't find difficulty while completing the course curriculum. Moreover, when they come out successful in an examination, it definitely adds up to their already impressive resume which most employers very tempting to ignore.

Just Started Our First Lap Book!

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Recently, I was introduced to Lap Books. I'd never heard of them before, but I was intrigued, so I went to the "In the Hands of a Child" website and took a look around. They have a bunch of different lap books in a huge number of categories.

My daughter is in 3rd grade and absolutely loves Voyage of the Dawn Treader. So I thought the first lap book to try should be one on this awesome book by C.S. Lewis. She starts book reports this year and I thought it would be fun to do something a little different than the "normal" book report.

I remember loving reading books for school, but I always dreaded the required book report at the end! It was tedious to me, having to spit out in my own words the story I had just read. So I wanted to do something more fun with my daughter, so that she would continue her love for reading without it being squelched by the "looming" book report!

She just finished her first day, which was to read a biography on the author and to learn a few vocabulary words. At first, she protested when she heard that she would have to read about the author, instead of getting into the first chapter of the book right away. But I gently coaxed her by telling her that she was going to learn a little bit about the person who wrote the book so that she could appreciate the book even more.

After she finished reading the biography, I asked her what she had learned. With a sparkle in her eye, she listed off a dozen things about C.S. Lewis! Now, normally when I tell her to write about what she has learned, she gives me a whine about how she "can't" do THAT! But this time she was eager to write down what she had learned. Maybe it was because what she was writing on was not the same old, same old white writing paper that she normally uses. This time it was a brightly colored cut-out in the shape of a miniature book. It's amazing how a little thing like that can be a motivator!

The vocabulary words also became a joy, when she saw that she would be "making" something out of them. She was so excited about her first day with the lap book, that she couldn't wait to tell her daddy about it!

I have high hopes for the rest of the book report, too. Each day has a new activity to do that really encourages and involved the child in what they are learning.

If you have never tried a lap book, I highly recommend it. They aren't expensive, and you can even download them as e-books immediately!

If you have tried lap books, please leave a comment with your experiences!

Textbooks Are Still Needed to Properly Educate the New Workforce

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Are textbooks becoming a thing of the past? In a time of increasing technology, many schools have started to turn away from traditional textbooks. There are more professors encouraging students to access the texts via laptops or digital reading devices. But some experts agree educators should not move so fast to embrace an all-digital classroom; that the traditional printed version of the textbook is still necessary for proper student learning.

Former university professor D. Chen recently wrote that there is a need for technology in the modern classroom. He pointed out that today's generation of college students are accustomed to using technology to find information and agreed that younger people may be able to better learn in an electronic interactive format.

But the former professor also pointed out that traditional college textbooks are still necessary. Other professors agreed the actual reading from a textbook not only provided the student information, but also provides a student better discipline. There's a fear that losing the reading discipline will have bad effects on developing students' writing skills.

Reading from traditional print textbooks also helps students learn better patience. Modern technology allows students to get information quickly and with little effort. By not taking the time to search through a textbook, experts believe students won't develop proper problem-solving and research skills. Professors and work counselors also fear students will be unable to independently use printed materials in the work world if there is not continued exposure to printed materials while they are in educational institutions.

Many professors agree multiple modes of technology can be used in the classroom. Information can still be transmitted digitally to students, but some university officials are reluctant to abandon the traditional textbook altogether. These professors and administrators agree the days of using printed textbooks exclusively are waning. But retiring printed textbooks in favor of electronic-only modes may prove more harmful.

College students are also joining the debate. Many say they prefer printed textbooks over electronic forms of information. Students say traditional textbooks allow them to write in the margins and use highlighters for important passages. That makes the books important study aids. Some of these same students say their grades are better in courses where they use a traditional textbook when compared to courses that use only electronic methods. They also add that a textbook does not require batteries or electricity.

Education has evolved with loads of new technology. But just like things in the real world, sometimes the move to replace what was old-school with the latest new-school technology is not necessarily the best move for the future.

Empowering Spanish Speakers, Author Interview

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

PBR: Today we are talking with Dr. Jacqueline Mackenzie, author of Empowering Spanish Speakers just published by Summerland Corp. and being distributed by Ingram Book Company, making it available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and on her nonprofit website. Thank you for taking your time to join us and talk about your book.

JZM: Thank you for reading and reviewing my book. I am certain you now have a vastly clearer understanding of the reasons Mexican life is full of underemployment, discrimination, and restricted opportunities for them to reach their maximum adult potential primarily because they are native Spanish speakers.

PBR: My first question, or rather a comment, is how personally impressed I am with your lifestyle of moving in with your Mexican hosts and living with them for such a long period. Tell us, please, a bit about how this came about.

JZM: When I left for Central Mexico in 2005, I already had 35 years experience working beside marginalized Mexican-American immigrants (immigrants with native roots). My attitude was that I was going to spend time inside a heritage I respected. The time had come to learn more about the culture in order to define why for years I had felt so socially accepted when I was with Mexicans. Ethically, I had to know that anything I published was accurate. I had to become a part of a small rural community of subsistence farmers to find valid answers. I simply recorded what I observed, qualitative data, and analyzed the quantitative data. The new information gave me insight. Having been a certified teacher and director of a school, I already knew some of what was misaligned in the management of business and education systems in the USA. After my investigations in Mexico, I knew what misalignment existed in both countries related both to Mexican-American immigrants and indigenous Mexican nationals.

PBR: You have an abundance of statistical data regarding population, ages, nutrition, and education of the indigenous Mexican tribes. What trend stands out the most for you as a wakeup call for us, meaning native English-speaking Americans, to take heed to?

JZM: What I found were native mothers and children hungry for both food and access to information. My best friend and translator traveled into 18 rural villages, several times over a year. We looked at 665 infants, children, and youth. We did not find statistically significant disabilities. We did find that nearly one-third of the children were malnourished; so were their parents. We listened as mothers told us that what they wanted, and asked us to help them acquire, was a means to help themselves.

PBR: From the Internet I have viewed the website for the Summerland Monastery. I notice your "book drive" for Spanish and English children's books. What are some of the other programs being done by your organization?

JZM: We offer free equine therapy and water therapy to children with disabilities; training local students how to do the same. We open our landlord's homemade swimming pool to children or adults to empower themselves by learning how to swim. We allow access to our library of 3,000 books; about 15% Spanish or bilingual. We teach English and art regularly. We designed and built a local community center that was funded and is owned by another Central Mexico nonprofit. By example, we teach organic farming techniques and other ecological lessons. In the winter, we assist a Western Mexico nonprofit with a sailing program for youth. Finally, we host travelers and volunteers from inside and outside Mexico.

PBR: How did you come about choosing the main categories of cultural aspects for dissecting into your chapters? Also, how do you define your techniques of objective analysis?

JZM: I looked at the basics of the indigenous culture and recorded them straightforwardly. Then I analyzed the rules and academic materials set into place by public school administrations in both the USA and Mexico. I found that a miss-match exists for Native Mexicans. I found, to quote Representative John Kline, the chairman of the House Education and the Workforce Committee, stated on February 14, 2011:

"Over the last 45 years we have increased our investment in education, but the return on that investment has failed to improve student achievement. Throwing more money at our nation's broken education system ignores reality and does a disservice to students and taxpayers."

The logical answer is to make research-based changes in administrative teaching methods and the materials being taught, plus to enlighten teachers with research-based cultural information and techniques to enhance learning.

PBR: Tell us, please, about your itinerary for your presentation and book tour.

JZM: I will travel by bus and train to colleges, libraries, public school boards, corporate offices, military bases, union halls, and any other place I am welcomed. I am flying from my home in Central Mexico to Seattle right after Easter, then heading south by bus or train to Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Tucson. In late summer, I will travel to Chicago and then south by bus or train to San Antonio stopping along the way to speak. In the fall, I will begin in Miami, travel by bus or train north to New York and back to Atlanta stopping both ways to speak before returning home to Central Mexico. My tour will be based on doing everything in my power to share the latest scientific research on how to help marginalized Spanish speakers to learn in academic and work environments regardless of where they reside. My tour will make the point that in the same way that non-immigrant Mexican-Americans cannot imagine living without utilities, rural Mexican nationals cannot imagine living without low-cost public transportation.

PBR: What do you hope to accomplish with your book tour and speaking engagements and how can people reading this interview get more involved?

JZM: Quoting Helen Keller, "The highest result of education is tolerance." My dream is that months of traveling will result in English speakers learning about practical alternative techniques to apply when interacting with marginalized Spanish speakers. A miracle would occur if administrators in public school and higher education, corporations, agricultural and services businesses, politics, and the military would take notice of this research.

PBR: Again, thank you for your time today, and we wish you the most success with your book.

JZM: I thank you for giving me the opportunity to explain the factors that drove me to write this book.

A Book Review - Educational Leadership in Pakistan: Ideals and Realities

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

All about the Book

This is the first ever book on educational leadership, published in Pakistan. Dr. Jan-e-Alam Khaki and Dr. Qamar Safdar are the editors of this book. The book consists of a series of empirical studies undertaken by qualified educational researchers in Pakistan, associated directly or indirectly with AKU-IED. There are various thought provoking and insightful topics in this book; each complements our learning experiences. The book is divided into four sections and fourteen chapters; each section and chapter is intertwined with each other and illuminates issues and its remedial measures. Section one describes the development of education leadership in Pakistan. The second sections deals with the Diversity of Leadership: perceptions and practices of leadership in Pakistan. The third session looks at the role of the educational change agents, and the fourth sections explores the future prospects of educational leadership in Pakistan. In order to get in-depth insights from the book, we decided to focus on first two sections and reviewed initial six chapters.

In first chapter, Dr. Sajid Ali and Muhammad Babur highlight the issues and nature of governance during pre and post independence. Structure of education during British and after independence is analytically compared. Chapter indicates that involvement of educational leadership is missing in both periods, causing various issues in education system, ineffective management and indistinct teaching methodologies, etc. In the second chapter, Zubaida Bana reflects upon the understanding of effective leadership. Using the Katha (storytelling) approach, she starts the discussion pints of a headteacher who imaginatively discovers the meanings in allegories and metaphors in order to understand the roles and responsibilities of an effective education leader in his/her school. Katha of leadership described in this chapter stimulates our minds that every person has the capacity to lead. Some may lead in wider space; others may lead in smaller landscape.

The third chapter is all about of a female pedagogical leader's journey in a traditional context in Pakistan. The writer reflects upon the critical incidents, she came across in her personal to professional life, which helped or impede her way to become a pedagogical leader. The notion of 'leader as a bridge between management and stakeholders' and 'leader as a life-long learner' is evident from her story. In the fourth chapter, Qamar Safdar explores the roles of two effective headteachers of early years in two private schools. The writer reflects on the capacity and ability for the overall development of children. The chapter 5, deals with an ethnographic study conducted by Mola Dad Shafa in a rural context of northern areas of Pakistan. The author discusses the challenges the headteachers faced and the way addressed them. The chapter six, 'Effective School Leadership Practices' is a doctorial research of Dr. Jan-e-Alam Khaki. In this case study, Khaki explores the roles and beliefs of three effective secondary school headteachers and their influences on the teaching and learning practices in schools.

Key Learning from the Book

Being a student of Teacher Education, I was very unfamiliar with different kinds of leadership and its characteristics. The very first time, in our PL course, I heard the terms instructional, moral, transformational, participative, managerial, contingent and pedagogical leadership. But these terms were not much clear to me; I mostly thought them as just theories with no connection with practical life of a leader. This book review provided me with access not only to understand and differentiate in different kinds of leadership, but also relate it with real-life situations.

I have learnt many new things about effective leadership from this book, but due toe limited word limit I will describe some crux of it. While analyzing the first chapter of the book, I feel the same that governance and planning has the role in deteriorated education system in Pakistan. It takes a lot of time in planning and framing the policy, then sending it to the national assembly and senate for debate and translating it into the law. Then piloting of the policy takes long time and when it comes to be implementation, the government gets changed and so the policy. It creates the environment of despair, but when I go through the second chapter (Katha of Leadership), it gives a hope. Here, I learnt that nothing is unachievable in this world. Every person is capable to contribute in the process of change and everyone has capacity to lead. We should not stay waiting for any cosmos power to come to help us; it is high time for everyone to come forward and lead.

The third chapter of the book was the most inspiring and learning factor for me. Here, I learned that how a person (particularly a woman), with her/his strong will, sincerity and zeal breaks the chains of traditional rules. While reading that article, I was deeply thinking that someone has to initiate and take the first step toward the collective development. This article took me in my own context, where female is still considered as the property of the man and only the reproductive machine. Education, even the good food is the sole right of male child. Here, my elder sister (who could not get education herself) by sending her daughter into school, proved herself as traditional rule breaker. Some of other females start following her foot-steps by sending their daughters to the schools. Ten years back, there was no single literate girl in my village, but due to that small step, more than forty to fifty girls have completed their primary education so far. Besides it, I also learnt that leader is life-long learner. He/she learns through self-reflection and negotiating and discussing the issues with others and seeking guidance from them.

Overall, this book serves as a pioneer of exploring our thinking about our own role as a leader and proves to be a best resource for the policy makers to develop alternative approaches to deal with school and teaching and learning practices.

Conclusion

This book very obviously describes the role of leadership and management in an educational organization. A leader being a role model should motivate and encourage the staff because performance and commitment of people employed in any organization makes it effective. Through critical analysis of the book, I came to know that this book possesses stories and cases from Pakistani context so many of the ideas suit my own. So, it would be easier for my future role as a teacher educator to deal with the school management and leadership related issues in an effective manner.

How Colleges Have Given Up on Educating Your Child: A Book Review

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

I am a mother of two teens. I am a college graduate and a Master Degree drop out from St John's University, New York. In fact, I was accepted by St John's and decided not to attend because they required a year of English Language course and also other subjects that I have already taken. I felt it was unnecessary and a waste of time and money.

For the past year, I have been researching on the relevance of college education in this new economy. In my journey of researching, I found out that there are many roads that lead to a child's success in life and career. In this nation, the vast majority of us are categorized as middle class families. Good old fashioned, hard working Americans looking for ways to help our children advance socially and economically.

However, with the price tag of college education increasing each year, most families are going into certain types of loans just to 'buy' an education for their children. But parents, is that the only road to advancement? Do we want to see our children in debt just to get that education and later find out that it does not buy success? Have you wonder why so many young graduates are struggling financially even with a college education?

One of the books that I have recently read is "The Five-Year Party: How Colleges have given up on educating your child and what you can do about it" by Craig Brandon. I do not agree with everything, however, there are many tips and checklists to take away from Mr. Brandon's book.

Craig Brandon said the purpose of this book is to inform parents about the abuses of higher education that party schools engage in to maximize the number of customers and their incomes at the expense of real education.

He defined party school as a relatively inexpensive four-year residential college/university that rates among the third and fourth tiers (rated by U.S. News and World Report), that admits low grades and low SAT scores.

These are the colleges that most middle income Americans goes to. According to his research:

1. Majority of the students are no better than a high school drop out after graduating. These students are not interested in learning and do not put in effort to learn.

2. Since early 1990s, colleges have been reinventing and transforming into institutions that focus on profits instead of education. Because of this transformation, the administrators want to ensure they retain students by giving exactly what they want, that is, less work more fun.

3. To retain students who are their 'customers', they enlarged dining halls into gourmet food courts, campuses with hot tubs, water parks, climbing walls, work out centers and wide screen television sets all over.

4. Dormitories being replaced by luxury condominiums. So instead of spending money on education, they used it for facilities and luxuries.

5. They use grading curve to transform an F score to a magical B. There is no high expectation for quality school work. Flunking is almost eliminated.

6. Focusing on increasing revenue, they squeezed as many students as possible onto campuses for the highest tuition and longest possible amount of years.

7. When parents and their high school age children tour the campus before they make decision, they are given a 'golden walk'. They give a misrepresentation, misstatement and 'lies' to entice them to sign up.

8. 21 cents to a dollar of your college tuition is for instructions and the rest go to administrators' salaries, construction programs and multi-million-dollar advertising and public relations campaigns.

9. Because of the high tuition fee, two thirds of students need loans to complete their studies and the schools have private loan companies to offer loans to students. Most students do not understand the terms and conditions of the loans until they graduate and are faced with the truth.

10. He outlined the dangers of these campuses because of alcohol, crime, rape, and their obsession with secrecy where parents do not find out the problems until it is too late.

Craig Brandon offered an action plan and a call to action for parents. We need to reinvent higher education with main focus on:

Educating not entertaining.

Go back to basics, the goal is to create "no frills colleges"

Replace unnecessary irrelevant courses with core subjects necessary to maintain our economy, our government and the future of our country

Students need to pass a "value added" exam before granted a degree. Value added means skills and knowledge required to be a leader

Transparency for all college policies and proof that colleges are providing education

My conclusion from this book: talk to our children and find out what are their strengths, goals and passion in life. Without a serious talk, direction and a game plan, we will walk the road to nowhere. Colleges are not the only roads that lead to our children's success.

When faced with this challenge, many people are looking into producing biodiesel on their own at home. This can easily be done with the aid of biodiesel centrifuges. By understanding how these centrifuges work, you can be confident while using one of these devices in your quest for homemade biodiesel.

It is important to comprehend just what a centrifuge is before jumping into producing your own biodiesel fuel. A centrifuge is a machine that essentially generates gravity to separate solid matter from liquids. In the case of biodiesel, waste vegetable oil is the liquid from which solid matter, glycerin, water and other impurities is removed. Biodiesel centrifuges range in everything from size to power and it is pertinent you choose one to suit your particular requirements.

The kind of centrifuge you procure depends upon your personal biodiesel making needs. If you only wish to produce enough biodiesel to fuel one car for commuting to work five days a week, then an industrial centrifuge is not necessary. On the other hand, if you are operating a farm and need to power several tractors and other miscellaneous farm equipment, a larger machine must be utilized in order to produce an adequate amount of biofuel. There are many devices being offered on the market today so you can be sure you will find something to meet your needs.

Once you decide how much biodiesel you will need to produce and you have invested in the appropriate centrifuge for your needs, it is time to actually start the process of making the fuel itself. Most biodiesel centrifuges are similarly designed with two separate sections: the centrifuge housing and the rotor. Dirty waste oil is fed into the centrifuge housing (most often through a feed tube) and is then transferred up a hollow center spindle. From there, the waste oil is dispersed equally into the centrifuge rotor via what is known as a baffle. The rotor spins at an incredibly fast rate which in turn rotates the oil at the same speed. It is here that any contaminants, grease, water and anything heavier than the oil is separated out and pushed to the inside wall of the rotor. These contaminants consolidate with one another into a thick sludge-like material while the cleaned oil leaves the rotor to drain through mounting brackets.

Today's technology can be very confusing, creating some challenges for consumers trying to find the best technology at affordable prices. You can take advantage of Alexander Sutton's knowledge of the tech industry and apply it to your consumer experience for budget-friendly, state-of-the-art solutions. AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

German Language is considered one of the major languages in the world after English and French. It is estimated that on average German is spoken by more than 100 - 120 million people. We can assume that at least 38 countries around the world use German Language for communication and regular life. Normally the most of world German speakers are in Germany; however you can find a relevant number of German speakers in USA, Canada and Latin America, principally in South America. The question is, why many people want to learn German?, probably the reasons to do that are the following:

A. People Learn German for Travel

It sounds logical, Germany is located in Eastern Europe and many Europeans used to travel for holydays each year. Additionally the tree major countries in Europe have German as a native language. You can learn German for example in institutions in Berlin or Frankfurt, however classes are very simple and focused in culture, basic conversations, introducing yourself and tips to go to restaurants, hotels and more.

B. People Learn German for Business

Is clearly obvious companies around the world have commercial relationships with Germany or cooperation for research and development. According to UNESCO, Germany is the third largest industrial nation in the world and one of the most important exporters. People used to employ English as official language for business but in Germany the reality is quite different. The most important in this process is to understand completely the ideas and include all the concepts necessaries to perform a technology commercialization for example.

C. People Learn German for Tourism

German is considered as the second language you can use in tourism industry. You can find for example courses for specific task in jobs that include technical German. The trend is you go to Germany and assist to a school during summer to immerse in the language. Results are not fully proved but it is considered as a true. Many people used to work in Germany or Germany and UK, so learn German is so recommended.

D. People want to learn about German Culture

A very cool and funny option to do in Germany. Normally people go to a German Language school in Germany in order to learn to speak. Learning by immersion is very recommended, however it depends on your previously knowledge in grammatical and conversation. Berlin is by now one of the most attractive cities to learn German.

How to start to learn German? Do I need to travel to Germany in order to speak that language?

Answer is NO. You don't need to go to Germany, well if you like that and have good money to start a course, well done! However, learning online following a good methodology seems to be better. Free courses for German Learning are often searched by people who need to know the language, but, do you believe editors giving everything for free on the internet? No, no way... Free courses are so incomplete and the worst: Unfocused according to the brain structures for learning.

YES! Learning structures. Just remember this: do you remember how did you learn your native language?... Did you get courses? Of course not, you just immerse in your own culture and made associations between concepts, looking, listening and interacting. That's the "little" difference among online free courses. All you need to know is: A good German Course implies a successful Learning German Process. Before you pay for a German Course, look first the content, the methodology, the online tools, and the interactivities among communities (So recommended), it could help you to save time and money.

Textbook Book Review - An Introduction to Business

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Are you considering a career in business? Perhaps now is the time to get yourself ready, as the economy starts to recover and jobs start to come back to America. Are you considering getting an MBA, or a degree in business? Do you see yourself in the future as being a business manager of a business unit, or retail store? If so, perhaps you should learn more about how businesses operate, make their money, and manage their employees.

Of course it's not all that simple, s there is a lot more to it than that. Nevertheless, it makes sense to get an early start, and perhaps consider some business courses as well. If you don't have time to go to school right now there's a very good book that I would like to recommend to you. It is a textbook, and it is available online. It is a book that I do own in my personal library for reference, even though I am a retired franchisor, and perhaps I could've written the book myself.

The reason I keep this book is because I believe it's interesting to get the academic perspective on the topic, and to learn what our business schools, and community colleges are teaching future students who will attain business degrees, and then move into the workforce. The name of the book is;

"Intro to Business" Fourth Edition) by Steven A. Eggland, Les R. Dlabay, James L. Burrow, Robert A. Ristau, South Western Educational Textbook Publishers, Cincinnati, OH, (2000), 677 pages, ISBN: 0538-69146-8.

This book is broken into chapters or sections, which are referred to as units. Each unit and subsequent chapters goes into a different aspect of business, things that you need to know. For instance unit one talks about the economic environment, which is extremely important right now, as we exit the downturn in the business cycle to an inflationary period. Learn about business cycles, creating statistical modeling, and making proper economic decisions. Then there is a section or unit on business operations, and one on business and government regulations.

There are also units on international business, as well as small business management. Also you can learn about business credit and financing, as well as strategic investment strategies and risk management and return on investment. This is a very well-rounded book, easy-to-read, nicely formatted, and pre-highlighted to make your learning much easier. If you are looking for a starter book on the introduction to business - this is definitely a book that I would like to recommend to you, and like I said you can find it online.

Will The World Arrive To A Close In 2012?

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

The Milky Way is sort of a spinning record made out of stars. It measures 100,000 light years across and 1,000 light years thick. The point that's halfway between the top and bottom of this disk of stars is known as the Galactic Equator. The position of any object in space is measured by astronomers by employing a system that's like the latitude and longitude coordinate system that's used on earth. But astronomers also use another measurement system known as the galactic coordinate system for measuring the position of objects in space. This system uses the Galactic Equator to gauge the position.

The measuring system that utilises the galactic equator for measuring the position of objects in space uses the sun as the center point. A 0 degree ling is drawn from the sun to the galactic equator. Objects that are positioned above or below the galactic equator may also be measured using this system. The north galactic pole is situated 90 degrees above the galactic equator and the south galactic pole is situated ninety degrees below the galactic equator. The solar system is said to bounce above and below the galactic equator. The solar system takes 64 years to finish one full cycle above and below the centre of the Milky Way. A popular myth assumes that the solar system will cross the galactic equator after 2012. Nevertheless many scientists have dismissed this to be false and say it's just a myth and no such thing should occur. Regardless of whether such an event occurs, no serious danger will be caused. Nevertheless analysts say that there could be some repercussions in case the sun rises over the galactic disk. Possible increase in comets and meteors are foretold but all these might turn out to be completely fake. Radiation and cosmic rays are another aspects that we may have to be afraid of. There's an increased risk of comets being hurled towards earth because of the gravitational forces present on earth. The gravitational communication between objects and the densest part of the Milky Way may cause these objects to be thrown towards earth.

Mayan astronomy and mythology forecasts a dark rift feature lies along the galactic equator and this is the place where the sun will reside in 2012. Therefore, a huge cross will be formed comprising of the Milky Way and the ecliptic line between the Sagittarius and Scorpio constellations. The Mayans called this cross the sacred tree or the crossroads. The Mayans anticipated an event will occur on earth in 2012. Their astrology attests this because of the holy tree formation that appears in the stars in this year. This area that forms the sacred cross is commonly called the nuclear bulge among astronomers. The center of the Milky Way or the nuclear bulge is detectable by the bare eye from earth. It's the widest and the brightest area of the entire Milky Way. The alignment that will happen in 2012 is the alignment between the December sun and the Galactic center.

CNA Certification Can Help You Get a Great Position As A Nurse

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

The healthcare industry is rapidly evolving and provides many career opportunities for people who want to enter the field of patient care. Certified Nursing Assistants are health-care employees who are responsible for providing direct care to patients who are unable to take care of themselves. Common responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, assisting patients with getting out of bed, bathing and dressing patients and providing emotional support. Someone interested in this career must undergo CNA training and pass a certification test before being allowed to provide care to patients.

A Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA) can find positions in many different medical environments. Medical offices, hospitals, therapy centers, nursing homes and assisted living facilities are just the most common places of employment. As the Baby Boomers enter into their senior years, the need for CNA's in assisted living facilities is anticipated to triple. CNA training can be completed in a very short period of time. During your CNA training you will learn everything you need to pass your state exams and to work in a professional environment. Many people who enter into the course are surprised by the amount of knowledge they already have in the field.

Many places have their own rules and it is up to you to determine whether you would like to go to a school, a nursing home, or other location to get your learning. Some schools offer CNA Certification classes and then you can move up to becoming an LPN and even an RN. Depending where you want to go the best way is to start at the bottom and move up. This will help you determine if it is the right field for you.

Most states require that you have CNA training and pass a board exam before entering the field. The exam is quite simple if you have been trained, and the monetary benefits are well worth the effort. CNA's earn a good living and many people who enter this career find that they pursue further training and become nurses. CNA programs are available through campus based education or distance learning programs. This allows anyone with an interest the capabilities of going to school on their own terms. Because many of these programs are accelerated programs, students may find themselves with a new career in less than a month.

With the current economic situation, it can be difficult to find and maintain a career. For those who enjoy taking care of others and providing loving support to those who need it, becoming a CNA is the right choice. CNA training is the first step to this wonderful and emotionally fulfilling career.

Begin a new job as a nursing assistant with CNA Training. You will want to get CNA Certification before you apply.

New Book Reveals How Understanding Memory Processes Leads to Academic Success

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Kurt Eby's new book, "Getting an 'A' Without Trying" sounds too good to be true, and at first, it even seems a bit far-fetched, but readers will quickly find that Eby not only has a method to his "madness" but he has actually developed a very logical and simple way of memorizing information through associations that can easily result in earning A's in school. As Eby points out early, even though higher education tends to emphasize critical thinking, first you need to know the material before you can think about it critically, and most "knowing" is simply memorizing facts and figures.

At first glance, the methods Eby suggests may seem outlandish, even nonsensical-they are like crazy cartoons running through our heads-and his classmates concluded, from looking at his notes, that he was either a genius, a cheater, or nuts. But Eby does not claim to be any of the three-he is simply the inventor of a very logical learning method that also happens to be a great deal of fun.

The result of Eby's method was that he received A's in school. In fact, he was only the third person ever to graduate from Palmer College of Chiropractic West with a 4.0, and he did that while only studying 30 percent as much as his classmates. In his book's introduction, Eby tells us, "The point of this story is not to brag about how brilliant I am, but as you will see throughout this book, it is rather about how ordinary I am, and about how anybody can do what I have done."

So what is Kurt Eby's secret? He has taken the time to understand how memory works, and then to build up associations for what he must memorize and to use visual representations of information so they remain firmly in his mind. Really, his method is not much more complicated than that, but the results are astounding, and anyone who reads this book and follows the exercises will quickly discover that he or she can do the same.

As a former professor and someone who has always enthusiastically been able to remember historical dates with little trouble, I think Kurt Eby's method would be very beneficial to students. When a student, I created my own little methods to help me remember things, often associated with stories or using rhythm to remember vocabulary definitions, but I never formulated anything so elaborate as what Kurt Eby has accomplished. Nevertheless, because I have used some similar, though less developed methods, I can definitely see how his process would work effectively.

As a novelist, I also appreciate Eby's methods because I have long known that storytelling is an effective way of learning material. Eby basically teaches us how to create story plots in our heads, associated with the information we need to remember. I think Eby's methods only reinforce how powerful stories are as a way to learn that can also make learning fun as well as educational.

I wish I and all students were taught such a method in elementary school, and this method is so simple that even elementary school children could easily learn it-in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they excelled at it more than older students because they have spent less years mislearning how to learn.

Furthermore, I think many people, as they read about Eby's methods, will nod their heads and say, "I did something like that to remember X when I was in school." Only, most of us did not take the time to develop such methods further and thereby missed out on the benefits Eby saw as a result.

Finally, I appreciate Eby's practical advice not just about how to learn information, but the importance of the mindset required to learn and to succeed in showing you have learned the information. For example, he states:

Your mental attitude when you go into the examination is also extremely important. When I was a TA, I taught students to develop the attitude of looking at examinations as an opportunity to show off. If you go into an examination fearing it, the exam tends to eat you alive. However, if you go into the examination with the attitude that it is your opportunity to show the world how much you know, you come from a much stronger position.

Beyond strategies for memorizing, Eby also reminds readers how to think like teachers so they can take tests in a way to produce impressive results in their teachers' opinions. Eby gives helpful advice for how to answer questions that might not be as easy as simple memorization, as in the case of writing in-class essays, or how to impress instructors during oral examinations.

This book may look small and its methods may be simple, but its information is revolutionary and life-changing nevertheless; buying this book and spending the small amount of time required to read it is well worth the hundreds of hours of study time you will save and the reward of better grades you will assuredly receive. The path to the A's you have always wanted can easily be found within the pages of "Getting an 'A' Without Trying."

The Ultimate Stranger The Autistic Child

Carl Delacato EdD Academic Therapy Publications, 1974

In the 1930s and 1940s Dr. Temple Fay gathered some younger professionals to form the Institute for the Achievement of Human Potentials in Philadelphia: Dr. Robert Doman (physiatrist) and Glenn Doman (physical therapist) as well as Dr. Carl Delacato (educator). Early on Delacato spent much of his time researching and working with children who had reading and speech difficulties resulting in a number of books. At some point he was asked to turn his work over to others and to move on to another challenge. He began to explore the autistic child and his needs. These men all shared a keen sense of observation and the inability to rest until solutions were found.

In The Ultimate Stranger, Delacato introduces us to the autistic child and gives a history of what we know about autism.

As early as 1943, Kanner had described the autistic child as one who:

Could not relate / interact with people.Could not communicate with others through language. Was obsessed with maintaining sameness and resisting changes. Was preoccupied with objects in favor of people.Had the occasional evidence of good potential for intelligence.

Over the years there have been modifications and additions to that list.

After Dr. Delacato spent time observing these individuals he concluded that all of those "autisms" were actually "sensoryisms." All of those strange behaviors are because of either: too much sensory input; too little sensory input or white noise. Due to injury in the sensory channels (sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch) there is either too much input, not enough clear input or the child produces his own "white noise" to drown out bad sensory input. The good news is that the same sensory stimulation can normalize the sensory input. Many of the activities that Delacato and the others found helpful in those early days are used today by neurodevelopmentalists and other professionals.

First step: "Read the 'sensoryism'" / observe - Is it hyper, hypo or white noise; Which sense or sense(s) is (are) in play?

Second step: Normalize the sensory input. For instance: The trigeminal nerve enervates all the senses in the head and face area. One activity that normalizes these "sensoryisms" is "Trigeminal Stimulation" - one variation is to lightly touching all of the areas in the neck and head area beginning at the midline and moving away and around. Follow that by firmly touching these same areas. This should be done in short (2 minutes), frequent (2 times a day) for a period of months.

While following the steps above, the parent / therapist must stop all sensory play or "stimming." This type of input is not specific and controlled. It is neurologically disorganizing and may result in regression. The autistic individual becomes so involved in "sensory play" that they can not get on with life / development. A parent / therapist will know the behavior is sensory play if the child resists when told to stop.

Delacato's masterpiece, The Ultimate Stranger - The Autistic Child succeeds in helping us to understand the world of an autistic individual and sets the stage for comprehensive way to address all of the sensory issues.

Interested to Take Online CNA Training Course?

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Online CNA Training Course has become one of the popular choices of aspiring nurse assistants considering the only prerequisite to be one is a high school diploma or basic GED. Offering basic education in nursing, it provides the most important skills and knowledge in a more convenient and easy to access way, answering the growing need for this field. The class is divided into two parts: the clinical instruction and the non-clinical instruction. The clinical instruction happens in a different setting, usually in a clinic, hospital or a nursing facility where the students will go hands on in applying what they learned.

On the other hand, the non-clinical instruction of the Online CNA Course includes an e-book which covers subjects such as: Anatomy, Physiology, Introduction to Nursing, Basics of Medical Care Provision, Medical Jargon, Legal and Ethical Behavior within the healthcare organization and HIPAA. The course lasts from six to twelve weeks depending on the program selected before taking up the final exam leading to the certification. Requirements on the course and examination may vary per state so verification with the department of health is important.

Other options are available for those who want to take up the CNA training. One is the traditional class offered by community colleges or technical schools. Sometimes it is offered for free by some states or private institutions. Others develop funds or grant programs to cover the whole program. With regards to the cost, online CNA course is a bit lower than the traditional courses (between $300 to $1500) and it comes with free option for schooling too.

Advantages of going through the Online CNA Training Course are: topics may be taken up at your own pace, savings in cost of tuition fees, not having to leave the comfort of your home in order to complete the course. A word of caution though, one must be careful in choosing the online CNA school and ensure that the online CNA training course is approved by your state. On the other hand, disadvantages may include the absence of interaction with trainers, other students and professionals and the non-practice of direct hands-on clinical exposure (clinical equipment, procedures and patients).

Becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant is made easy and convenient through the Online CNA Training Course. However, one should take and pass the CNA exam depending on the state, as it varies from one state to another. Once certified, this profession proves to be one of the most fulfilling and rewarding as it involves helping a lot of people.

CNA classes as well as online CNA Training are invaluable tools for CNAs. Becoming a CNA is usually just the foundation for one to start a promising and exciting health related career. For more CNA Training related information and job resources visit our website tradegiants.com.

How Much Money Students Can Save By Renting Textbooks Online

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Renting textbooks online is a popular trend among university and college students. They are using textbook rental services offered by some of the most reputable online book rental stores to save money. New students on university campus often have less idea about the textbook rental facilities. They are either ignorant to this affordable option of getting college textbooks or have no idea about how much money they can save by renting textbooks online. This article will provide some important insight to online book rental services and the money saving potential being offered by online textbook rental stores.

Original Textbook Cost vs. Textbook Rental Fee

Online textbook rental services help students in cutting their expenses over semester textbooks. On an average, student can reduce their textbook expenses by 50% to 60% by utilizing textbook rental services. There are many online book stores offering wide range of college textbooks on rent. Their textbook rental fees for the whole semester comes around 35% to 40% of original retail price of books.

For example, the popular book "UNDERSTANDING SCIENCE" which is priced $ 149.95 can be rented for $ 74.98; that simply means saving of $ 74.97 (approx 50% of the original cost). The book rental fee usually includes shipping charges (both delivery to recipient and dispatch to book rental store at the end of semester).

Usually an Australian college student has to spend an average of $1000 to $1500 on buying all college textbooks for a semester. At the end of semester, the books become useless to them. They have the option to either sell it or give it to their juniors. However, in many cases the syllabus or the books are changed depending upon the curriculum revision or professor's preferences of teaching. In that case, the books cannot be used by juniors.

Think about a student who prefers renting books rather than buying it. He will spend approx $ 500 to $ 750 for all the textbooks for one semester. At the end of semester, he will return all the books to the online book rental store and order books for next semester. He doesn't need to worry about selling used books or giving it to juniors. His expenses over book rental is approximately 50% that means for the total purchasing cost of books in one semester, he can rent same books for two semesters.

In summary, utilizing book rental services for getting college textbooks is a wise decision for college students in Australia. They can reduce their costs of getting books and spend the remaining money to fulfill their other needs.

The author is associated with Book Hero. Book Hero is an Online book rental service provider offering college and university textbook for rent in Australia. They offer a cost effective way of getting textbooks for a wide array of subjects.
